At the urging of ladymora, and to the dismay of weemonkey6, I have cottoned on to the joys of Live Journal. Communication is a good thing, and with that in mind I watch the posts of old friends (and new!) with interest.
Most of my own posts, however, have to do with the Pirates of the Caribbean fandom, rather than personal issues. The happy contemplation of PotC, with its comedy, adventure, romance, and mesmerizingly pretty cast, brought me through some difficult times in '03, and continues to do so to this day. The story is multi-layered, and the characters are complex (even those who aren't Captain Jack Sparrow), and I've been enthusiastically reading and writing in the PotC universe since the end of 2003, when I discovered there was such a thing as fanfiction and online fandoms. Not finding exactly the sort of comedy/adventure/romance I wanted to read, I began writing my own, and posted the first seventeen chapters of Harry & the Pirate I at FanFiction.net on January 1, 2004. To my shocked delight, quite a few readers seemed to like it, including erinrua, now admiral of Black Pearl Sails (her Yahoo group for PotC fanfic writers) who posted a link to my story on her recs webpage and invited me to join the group! About the same time, I established this journal, and after a few months began posting my work here, too. Harry & the Pirate II: Swann's Revenge came along, followed by Harry & the Pirate III: Norrington's Choice, and then Harry & the Pirate IV: The Chalice of St. Francis. While I was writing Harry & Jack's multi-chaptered sagas, I also wrote a rather large number of drabbles, and short stories. It has become, oddly, an almost obsessive hobby, along with reading others' work. There are so many truly gifted writers in this fandom, it never ceases to amaze me. Treasure, indeed.
To archive the treasure that the authors at Black Pearl Sails and her sister group, Black Pearl Library, produce, I am building Black Pearl Tales. Check it out, if you get a chance -- lots of great reading there!
I do have interests other than PotC, one of which is cooking. I created a separate Live Journal community,![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif) prettygoodfood, which is devoted to posting tried and true family recipes.
